This book provided so much guidance to me in the beginning of my healing journey:
Before this book, I was in unchartered territories, I was fearing the unknown and asking the adage old question “how could this happen to me?”I picked up Louise Hay’s book “You Can Heal Your Life” and this was the tool to embark me on my journey. Every sentence made so much sense, illuminating my understanding and the path before me.

How many times have you heard people tell you, “You got to love yourself before you can truly love another being” or just some general saying on how you should love yourself. First.
And so many of us walk this earth shooing off those people who say that, nodding our heads in agreement and muttering “yeah, yeah I love myself plenty”.
But something remarkable happens in our life when we take the time to learn to love ourselves. Well first, let me say, it’s never this beautiful journey of self-discovery and just flowing right into this place of self-love. It gets ugly, its hurtful, it’s like your being gets turned inside out, your face to face with your greatest fears feeling ugly, scared, alone, confused. It’s up to the individual in this moment to declare there is something greater they want for themselves. And if you’re lucky you’ll be shown the way to guides, to the earth angels I always refer to.
It’s not so much a journey to learning how to love yourself but a journey in learning how to heal yourself.
If you’re not waking up in the morning and setting your intentions for the day, you’re unknowingly setting intentions that can attract to you exactly what you do not want.
As humans, we perceive the world around us every moment in the day and if we don’t make the commitment to see train our minds to see things as they truly are meant to be seen- which is life getting better and better, easier and easier; never a lack and always a surplus. Well than, that’s when we perceive things as getting worse, we open ourselves to the notion of fear and that one day the things we love so much will not be here any longer. These perceptions permeate the mind and become enweaved with our thoughts that create our feelings and we demonstrate our feelings through our actions. The next time you find yourself feeling bad, dissect your thoughts and identify what you were thinking about in that moment.
Starting each day with powerful, deep rooted intentions isn’t always easy and it’s most definitely a process. I recommend starting your mornings with whatever allows you to remember to be mindful. Whether it’s reading an enlightening book for 15 minutes, listening to a meditation, stretching or engaging in yoga- do something each morning that will help set your intentions for the day. If you don’t have the time to physically sit and meditate, then download a spoken morning meditation from YouTube. Make a point to listen to it as you get ready for your day or during your commute. It’s a great way to set the stage for your day and welcome a truly nurturing day.
Here are some guided meditation recommendations to get you started:
2017 is sprung upon us, just about 48 hours or so. I love to do cleansing rituals throughout the year, but the new year really gives us an opportunity to shift our focus to not only what we’re bringing into the new year (habitually, mentally, emotionally) but how we’re going to bring it into the new year.
Here are some of my favorite ways to ensure that good juju for 2017:
- Bathe: Baths have an ancient tradition of being sacred places of cleansing. There are so many different baths to take for different reasons, but for the sake of this New Year’s focus here are some general more superstitious ways of bathing for a restart. Fresh herbs are always what I suggest, but you can go grab rosemary water or essential oil from your local stores that caters to a more ethnic clientele.
- Rosemary: happiness
- Rose petals: love
- Lavender: inner peace
- *If you want to get real intense: take a pot of water over the stove, place herbs you’ve researched on your own, honey for a sweet life, turmeric for some spice, and just about anything you feel can be symbolic to you, allow this to all boil for 3 minutes. Let sit and cool. After your next shower (and after you’ve strained the herbs) pour the water over you and allow it to dry on its own for a bit before you towel off. Place the drained herbs outside at the base of a tree for a grounding effect.
- Make a list: & burn it! List of all the things, feelings, moments, that did not serve you this past year. Say something like “I release this” and light a flame to that note. Make sure to do this over a sink and once the flame engulfs your paper drop it in the sink and immediately turn on the faucet to put out the flame. Remember to feel peaceful throughout this, feeling bad or angry will not allow you to fully release with this exercise.
In tandem, these Derma-e products have been smoothing out my pores significantly. I’m so relieved to finally see a smoother texture to my skin.
